Tipping is an evil practice with racist origins yet we continue to try to perpetuate it. Workers should be paid well by their employers for the jobs they do. Numerous studies have shown that people of color are not tipped as well as white workers. Being able to pay your bills should not depend on whether someone thinks you “deserve” a higher tip and a factor of your “worthiness” for the tip is your skin color. We should be fighting to get rid of tipping. We should be fighting to get employers to pay their employees well.
