The season finale completes the mission.

We’re finally at the end of a journey that seems both long and brief. It’s hard to believe this season started 10 weeks ago. The episode opened with Juliette’s dad staring at the watch he had been given by Bernard earlier in the season. This set up many time references in the episode, as the clock was ticking on the survival of Silo 18. Time was running out for Dr. Nichols, and he didn’t know it yet.
Jimmy (Solo) made his first trip back to his childhood home since the day everyone died. I found it hard to believe that in 30+ years, he had never ventured that far out of the vault, but I remembered he wasn’t alone for the entire time. An unknown number of other people who hadn’t gone outside had continued to live in Silo 17 for an unknown amount of time. Leaving the vault would have been risky. As Jimmy recalled the events leading up to being placed in the vault, we learn his parents had discussed the “safeguard procedure” and their plans to disable it. We learned his father and mother had made it safe for everyone to go outside.
