Maybe the leak wasn’t from the dishwasher

As I embark on this series of real-life stories from my years as a service tech, I figure I should start with a bit of background. I’ve worked a number of different jobs over the years including running my own computer repair business and working as a TV and appliance repairman. These jobs had me going into customers’ homes to assess the situation, write up an estimate, pick up the computer to take back to my shop, or repair the device or appliance onsite. Going into someone’s home is always an adventure because you never know what’s going to happen. Are they eager to see you or dreading to see you? Have they prepared the area so you’ll have easy access to what you need to repair or will you have to deal with their personal belongings while you’re there to conduct the repair? Will they be talkative or silent? Will they hover over your shoulder or leave you at the house alone? Sometimes it’s as simple as will they be wearing clothes. Yes, this story goes there.

On this particular service call, in my appliance repair days, I had a 9 AM repair of a leaky dishwasher. I had to drive out to a nice subdivision surrounding a golf course and it was my second service call of the day.
