I Can’t Eat at My Favorite Mexican Place Anymore

This pandemic has been an interesting journey. We moved to the Atlanta Metro Area just as the pandemic was getting underway. (Yes, I know, who moves during a pandemic, right?) The timing of the move meant that we didn’t get a chance to explore the area ourselves to decide on favorite places to eat or do other things. It all came down to who had delivery or curbside pickup. Our way of exploring the local restaurants was through the DoorDash app.

We love Mexican food, so we were eager to try each of the area's Mexican restaurants through DoorDash. We found one we really liked and started ordering from them all the time. The food was always fresh and delicious, with generous portions at a reasonable price. We decided that when we were fully vaccinated and could dine in, we would enjoy the food in the restaurant itself.

Finally, the day came. My wife had been fully vaccinated for over a month, and I had just passed two weeks since my second shot. We knew where we wanted to eat, and there we went. The food was good, just as we had expected from the DoorDash delivery experience. The reason we can’t go back and won’t be ordering from them anymore is their politics. Right there, in the middle of the dining area, hangs the “thin blue line” flag. You’ve seen it before. It’s the bastardized US flag that has a blue line across one of the stripes…
