If you’re a lifelong sci-fi fan, you owe it to yourself to get a subscription to Apple TV+, even if it’s just for one month.

Unlike a lot of sci-fi out there, Apple TV+ has put a ton of money into having some premium content. I really don’t believe anyone, including Disney, has put as much into giving the viewer such a topnotch product. Unfortunately, the money they’ve put into these projects hasn’t put them ahead in the streaming game. These are some of the shows you’ll find there.

For All Mankind

Joel Kinnaman in “For All Mankind,” now streaming on Apple TV+.

This show begins with the alt-history idea that the Soviet Union beat the United States to land the first man on the moon. How would this defeat in the Space Race have altered what happened next in the US and Soviet space programs? The show offers an exciting look at what might have been. Each season gives the viewer a time jump, so we get to catch up with the lives of the original characters and add new characters as the decades pass. The time jump is effective because we learn certain details about the characters as backstories, as such details are needed in the current story, compared to having to sit through them and not know their relevance to what comes later.
